Frequently Asked Questions
Everything parents want to know before the big day, sorted.
Booking & Payment
How do I secure a booking?
Browse our rentals page and choose your inflatable. Contact us via Email, WhatsApp, or our contact form with: your full name, rental date, cell phone number, alternative contact, email, full delivery address, preferred delivery time (8:00–17:00 or a 3-hour window), preferred collection time, and selected inflatable. We’ll reply with a quotation. Payment terms: 48 hours for advance bookings, 24 hours if within 7 days of event, and 1 hour if the day before delivery. A booking confirmation is sent once payment reflects.
How far in advance should I book?
We recommend booking 2 weeks in advance. During peak periods (September, November, December), book 3–4 weeks ahead. Minimum booking lead time is 2 days before the event. Late bookings can be accommodated where possible.
Can I pay cash on delivery?
No. Full payment is required in advance to secure your booking.
Can I pay a 50% deposit and the balance in cash on delivery?
No. Full payment upfront is required. We do not accept partial deposits or cash on delivery.
Can I book now and pay at end of month?
No. We cannot reserve a booking without full payment within 48 hours of the invoice being issued.
Delivery & Collection
Do you offer delivery and collection?
Yes, we deliver across Gauteng. A single R200 fee covers both delivery and collection (typically Friday delivery, Monday collection for weekend bookings). Saturday delivery/collection incurs an additional R200, and Sunday an additional R300. Self-collection is available at no cost.
Can I collect the jumping castle myself?
Yes, you can collect from our premises at no additional cost. Requirements include a R1,000 refundable deposit, proof of address and ID (for individuals). No couriers or informal bakkie hire. Company drivers need proof of address and ID for the owner, business registration certificate, and the driver’s ID. You’ll handle setup and dismantling yourself (instructions provided). We recommend a bakkie, SUV, or trailer. A 5-door hatchback can work for one inflatable with seats folded. Sedans are not suitable.
General Business Information
How long have you been in business?
SA Jumping Castles has been operating since 2021 and is today one of the largest jumping castle rental companies in Gauteng.
What sets SA Jumping Castles apart?
Reliable professionalism, pristine condition (washed after every rental, serviced by our sister company Chameleon Inflatables), fleet kept current through ongoing inspection (castles beyond three years in service stay on the rotation only with a current annual inspection on file), a sophisticated booking system (no double bookings), an early delivery policy (day before the event to avoid last-minute issues), and dependable equipment.
Hygiene & Maintenance
Are the castles clean?
Yes, every castle is thoroughly cleaned after each rental.
Are they in good condition?
Yes. All our inflatables are maintained by our sister company, Chameleon Inflatables. Castles are retired after approximately 3 years and replaced with new ones.
Rental Policies
What is your cancellation policy?
10+ days before the event: full credit to your account minus a R150 admin fee, OR a free postponement within 12 months. Less than 10 days: non-refundable. Exceptions apply. Bereavement: full credit or postponement with a death certificate. Illness: full credit or postponement with a doctor’s letter. Credit is the default. If you would rather have the money back in your bank account, request a refund from your account portal and we process it within about a week. Rescheduling is only available if requested 10+ days before, subject to availability.
What if it rains?
Gauteng weather is kinder to parties than people fear — summer rain comes mostly as brief afternoon thunderstorms that pass quickly, and most parties never see a drop. For complete certainty, castles can be set up indoors on sandbags. If wind picks up during your hire, get everyone off and switch the blower off until it calms — safety first. Bookings follow our standard Terms & Conditions whatever the forecast. How our weather policy works.
What if the castle is damaged during my rental?
Normal wear and tear: no charge. Please notify us via email or WhatsApp by the collection date. Gross negligence or malicious damage (e.g., dog chewing, sharp objects, writing with pen/marker) means the renter is responsible for repair or replacement costs. Prohibited items: silly string (damages material), paint (including powder paint, which stains permanently, so no colour run events).
Who handles setup and removal?
Delivery option: Our team handles setup and dismantling (included in the delivery fee). Self-collection: You are responsible for setup and packing.
What are the safety rules?
Adult supervision is required at all times. Total weight should stay below 450kg. Separate children by age and size. Remove shoes, jewellery, glasses, and sharp objects. No food, drinks, silly string, paint, or markers inside. No climbing walls, flipping, or rough play. Slide feet-first for elevated slides and head-first for slip-n-slides. Secure with provided stakes at anchor points. Stop use in winds above 24 km/h or heavy rain — if small trees start swaying or leaves and small branches are moving constantly, get everyone off and switch the blower off. Run the blower from a wall socket on a plain, heavy-duty extension cord — not a multiplug or a cord with a built-in trip or reset button, which the blower’s start-up surge will cut out. Never bypass your home’s earth-leakage protection: check before the event that the earth-leakage switch on your distribution board trips when you test it. Keep the blower, the cord and every plug point dry and out of the splash zone. Set up on a flat, soft surface. For waterslides: one at a time, keep the slide wet.
Is there an age limit? Can adults use the jumping castles?
Our castles are designed with 3–15-year-olds in mind, but there's no age restriction — adults are welcome to jump too. Read more about adults on jumping castles.
Setup Instructions
How do I set up a jumping castle?
1. Choose a flat, open area free of sharp objects with an extra 1–2m around the inflatable.
2. Unroll with the top side up, spread fully with no folds.
3. Connect the blower to the air intake tube securely with the provided rope.
4. Secure anchor points with pegs at a slight angle away from the inflatable.
5. For taller inflatables, pull high ropes at a 45-degree angle and anchor.
6. Plug in the blower. It takes 2–5 minutes to inflate.
7. For waterslides, connect the hosepipe to the water intake and turn on slowly.
8. Check that all sides are inflated and all pegs are secure.
How do I pack down a jumping castle?
1. Remove everyone and clear the area.
2. For waterslides, turn off the water and open the drainage pipe to release water.
3. Switch off the blower, unplug it, and untie the rope from the air intake immediately.
4. Let it deflate fully (5–10 minutes).
5. Remove pegs and place them in the provided pockets.
6. Fold in half lengthwise, then in half again lengthwise.
7. Roll tightly from the opposite end toward the blower pipe/drainage pipe.
8. Place in the storage bag with the blower and accessories.
Note: Do NOT clean the castle. SA Jumping Castles handles all cleaning.
Usage & Accessories
Are there weight restrictions?
There are no strict weight limits, but we recommend that the total combined weight of all users at one time does not exceed 450kg.
Can castles be used with water?
Yes, models with a slide and pond are specifically designed for water use.
Is a groundsheet necessary?
No. Our bases are designed to handle typical outdoor surfaces.
Do you offer hosepipes, extension cords, and other accessories?
A 5m cord is included with every rental. A 20m extension cord is available for hire at R60. A 20m hosepipe is available for R60, or you can bring your own. Included free: pegs, ropes, blower, and storage bag. Not included: plastic balls or soap (we suggest bubble bath for waterslides).
What size area do I need?
This varies by model. Small castles need approximately 5m x 5m, while large or tall models may need up to 7m x 7m or more. Check our catalogue for exact dimensions and add a 1–2m buffer on all sides.
Is electricity required?
Yes. A standard wall socket within reach is required. A 5m cord is attached to the blower, and a 20m extension cord is available for hire at R60. Use a plain, heavy-duty extension cord — multiplugs and cords with a built-in trip or reset button cut out when the blower starts, which deflates the castle. Do not disable your home’s earth-leakage protection to get around that: leave the earth-leakage switch on your distribution board on, and check before the event that it trips when you test it. If using a generator, it should be 7kVA or larger. One 7kVA generator can run up to 3 castles but no other equipment. Start castles one by one, waiting for full inflation between each.
Can I use a jumping castle indoors?
Yes, as long as the space meets the requirements. You’ll need at least 5m x 5m plus 1–2m clearance on all sides. The ceiling must be higher than the castle height. Check our catalogue for specific dimensions.
