Customer Terms and Conditions
These Terms govern the hire of inflatable equipment from SA Jumping Castles (PTY) LTD (registration number 2021/588725/07) (“we”, “us”, “our”), trading as SA Jumping Castles. By making a booking with us you (“you”, “the customer”) agree to these Terms.
1. Who we are and what we provide
We are a direct rental business. We own, maintain and operate the equipment we hire out, and we deliver it ourselves across Gauteng. We hire out jumping castles, water slides and related accessories, and we provide delivery, setup and collection.
We do not sell inflatables. Sales and custom manufacture are handled by our sister company, Chameleon Inflatables, under separate terms.
2. Making a booking
Bookings are made by email, WhatsApp, telephone or our contact form. To quote you we need your full name, the rental date, a contact number, an alternative contact, your email address, the full delivery address, your preferred delivery and collection times, and the item you want.
We reply with a written quotation. A booking is provisional until payment is received in full. Once payment reflects, we send a booking confirmation, and only then is the booking secured.
We recommend booking two weeks ahead, and three to four weeks during our peak months (September, November and December). The minimum lead time is two days before the event, though we accommodate later bookings where we can.
We may decline or cancel a booking before delivery if the equipment is not safely available for your date, if we cannot reach the delivery address with the required vehicle, or if your payment is reversed. Where we do so, you receive a full refund.
3. Payment
Full payment in advance is required. We do not accept partial deposits, instalments, or cash on delivery.
Payment is due:
- within 48 hours of the quotation for bookings made well in advance;
- within 24 hours if your event is less than seven days away;
- within one hour if delivery is the following day.
Where payment is not received in that window the quotation lapses and the date is released.
4. VAT
We are below the SARS compulsory VAT registration threshold under section 23(1) of the Value-Added Tax Act, and we are not registered for VAT. Quotations and invoices show “VAT not applicable”, and the price you are quoted is the price you pay. Should we register in future we will publish the activation date, and bookings already paid before that date will not be re-priced.
5. Prices, delivery and surcharges
Rental rates are shown per item on our rentals pages. In addition:
- Delivery and collection: R200. This single fee covers both legs anywhere in our standard Gauteng service area — typically delivered on the Friday and collected on the Monday for a weekend booking.
- Saturday delivery or collection: an additional R200.
- Sunday delivery or collection: an additional R300.
- Self-collection: free, subject to section 6 below.
Any charge outside this list is agreed with you in writing before it applies. Addresses outside our standard service area are quoted individually.
6. Self-collection
You may collect from our premises at no charge. Self-collection requires:
- a R1 000 refundable deposit, returned once the equipment is back with us undamaged;
- your identity document and proof of address;
- for company collections, the business registration certificate, plus the owner’s proof of address and identity document and the driver’s identity document.
We do not release equipment to couriers or informally hired vehicles. A bakkie, SUV or trailer is recommended; a five-door hatchback can carry one inflatable with the seats folded down. Sedans are not suitable. If you collect, you set up and pack down yourself, and we provide written instructions.
7. Cancellation, postponement and refunds
Ten or more days before your event date: you may cancel and receive a credit for the full amount paid, less a R150 administration fee. In place of a credit you may postpone to any date within twelve months at no charge.
Less than ten days before your event date: the booking is non-refundable.
Exceptions. Where a cancellation follows a documented illness (a doctor’s letter) or a bereavement (a death certificate) affecting the person who made the booking or the person the event is for, we will give a full credit or a postponement outside these timeframes.
Cancellations issue a credit by default, valid for twelve months. If you would prefer the money returned to your bank account instead, ask us and we will arrange it.
If we cancel. Where we cancel a booking for any reason within our control, you choose between a full refund and a credit.
8. Weather
If you want to postpone because of the forecast, that is a customer postponement and section 7 applies — so inside the ten-day window it is not available. Rain alone does not usually prevent an inflatable being used, and forecasts this far out change often.
9. Safety rules and supervision
Our equipment is designed primarily with children aged approximately 3–15 in mind. There is no age restriction; all users participate at their own risk as set out in this section. You are responsible for supervision and safe use for the whole time the equipment is with you. In particular:
- A responsible adult must supervise at all times while the equipment is in use.
- No shoes, spectacles, jewellery, food, drink, chewing gum, sharp objects or pets on any inflatable.
- Group users by size and age. Do not mix small children with older or larger users.
- Observe the capacity limits given at delivery. As a guide, the total combined weight of users at any one time should not exceed 450 kg.
- No somersaults, rough play, or climbing on the walls or roof.
- Stop use and evacuate the inflatable if the wind exceeds 24 km/h — in practice, stop if small trees start swaying or leaves and small branches are moving constantly — or if there is lightning within about 10 km.
- Run the blower from a wall socket on a plain, heavy-duty extension cord — not a multiplug or a cord with a built-in trip or reset button, which the blower’s start-up surge will cut out. Never bypass your home’s earth-leakage protection: check before the event that the earth-leakage switch on your distribution board trips when you test it. Keep the blower, the cord and every plug point dry and out of the splash zone.
- For water slides, check the sliding surface is not dangerously hot before use in high summer.
- Keep the blower running at all times during use and keep its inlet clear.
- Do not move the equipment from where we set it up, and do not sub-let or lend it on.
10. Damage, loss and liability
Normal wear and tear is ours to bear. Damage caused by misuse, negligence, or a breach of the safety rules — including cuts from sharp objects, marker or paint, and damage from food or drink taken onto the inflatable — is invoiced to you at our documented repair rate. Where equipment is lost or damaged beyond repair, you are liable for its replacement value.
Because the equipment is used at your venue and outside our direct supervision, you accept responsibility for the safety of those using it and for any injury or loss arising from misuse, inadequate supervision, or failure to follow the safety rules.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including liability arising from our own gross negligence, and nothing here affects the rights you have under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008.
11. Circumstances beyond our control
We are not liable for delay or failure to perform caused by events outside our reasonable control, including severe weather, natural disaster, fire, civil unrest, or failure of public infrastructure. Where such an event prevents delivery, we will offer you a postponement or a full refund.
12. Your personal information
We handle your personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy and the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013.
13. Changes to these Terms
We may amend these Terms from time to time. The version published on this page at the time you make a booking is the version that governs that booking.
14. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by South African law, and the courts of Gauteng have jurisdiction. Please contact us first — most problems are quicker to solve directly than formally.
