Jumping Castle Power Requirements β€” the Practical Guide

The basics: one normal plug

The blower that keeps a castle inflated draws about 1.1kW and runs off a standard household plug point. No special wiring, no industrial socket. If your nearest plug is far from the setup spot, extension cords are available for hire on our catalogue.

Does the blower run the whole time?

Yes β€” while kids are playing, the blower stays on. That's what holds the castle up. When nobody's using it, you can switch it off; the castle deflates, and when the kids come back you switch it on and it's fully inflated again in about 30–60 seconds.

Generators: the numbers that matter

Running from a generator? The minimum that works properly is 6kVA β€” and it must be dedicated to the castle only. A 6kVA generator can actually run up to three castles at once, but here's the rule people break: don't share the generator with fridges, sound systems or anything else. If the demand on the generator climbs too high, the voltage sags and blower motors burn out. One generator, castles only.

A 6kVA generator runs up to three castles β€” but only if nothing else is on it. Share it with a fridge or a sound system and the voltage sags, which burns out blower motors.

Load shedding

The same logic applies to backup power at home: whatever supplies the castle needs to deliver 1.1kW continuously for as long as the kids are jumping, on its own circuit if possible. If you're not sure your setup can, check your stage schedule before the party β€” or WhatsApp us and we'll talk it through. Worst case, the castle simply deflates during an outage and re-inflates within a minute when power returns; just get the kids off promptly when it starts going down.
